Clerical Affairs...

Father Burke and Sister Margie, a Catholic priest and nun, fall in love in Los Angeles in the 1960s, abandon their vocations, and get married. A few short years later they become my parents.  Our family goes into a tailspin after Mom dies young, and Dad retreats into the solace of the Catholic Church that once rejected him.  He later pens a novel based on his life as a priest, but changes the ending.  Unlike his life, Dad's character in the novel remains a priest, and he never has a family. Told through a family archive of 16mm films and audio cassette recordings, Clerical Affairs is a personal documentary that explores an American family and its relationship to religion.

Clerical Affairs is currently in the development.  The project is supported by UnionDocs in New York (2016 summer fellowship), and is currently in the middle of a year-long residency at SFFILM's (formerly the San Francisco Film Society) FilmHouse in San Francisco.
